For the completion of my degree, I needed to undertake work placement at a game studio. I was able to get a position at Mini Mammoth Games in their placement program. Their program required me to make several games, which are feature below. The ratings reflect how enjoyable I think the games are.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Discard<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A deck building rogue-lite centered around dance battles. In this project, my main focus was on creating an appealing cartoon art style as well as making a system that aligned in game events with music. A common theme with these games is that I was the sole person behind the idea of the game, everything done in unity, and all of the programming. This game was good fun to make but I struggled a bit with all the new things I had to learn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Back to Work<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A maze escape game featuring randomly generated maps and an office theming. Each level of the game is made up of several maze prefabs shaped as rooms that are stitched together to create one larger maze filled with supervisors that will try to send you back to work. Unlike the other games, the initial idea for this game came from a friend. The main focus of this game was on the random generation for the levels, which proved to be incredibly complex. It did however teach me a lot about unity as I had to reduce load times as much as possible. It was a real challenge to make the game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Neon Nights<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

An endless runner that has you controlling a car weaving through traffic. The main focus for this project was achieving a pleasing visual style and smooth mechanics. While the mechanics were originally smooth, some last minute additions required the mechanics to change leaving them feeling a little clunky. The visual style came out as desired. I was the only person in the team working on the game, but I did have help with the 3D assets. Over all, I had lots of fun making this game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
